Capitola Beach Welcomes “Operation Surf” to Santa Cruz Surfing

If you are looking for rewarding Santa Cruz activities, come join us on April 1st & 2nd, at Capitola Beach to help support our nations injured veterans. Operation Surf 2017 is held in honor of the veterans who have made sacrifices for the freedom of our country. Wounded veterans of various branches of our US military, who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, will take part in an inspiring experience on the waves at Capitola Beach.

This is the 4th year for Operation Surf here at Capitola Beach. For some of these heroes, the trip to Capitola and the Operation Surf event is their first time leaving the hospital after their injury. At last year’s Operation Surf event, Veteran participants were overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and appreciation by the Capitola community and its many volunteers.

Getting out surfing and paddle boarding Santa Cruz provides a unique opportunity to get back to nature and feel the healing power of the ocean. These heroes will overcome life challenges and build new understanding of their potential and Capitola Beach is excited to be participate again this year.

There are a variety of ways to get involved in this event: Water Survey, Set-up or Break-Down, Motivator, Translator, or Surf Instructor. You can also just come down to enjoy Capitola Beach and help cheer our veterans on. To volunteer or to view the 2017 event schedule, please visit amazingsurfadventures.org.

We hope to see you out in the water (or at Capitola Beach) April 1st & 2nd helping us show our veterans what Santa Cruz surfing is all about!
